Depth converts quantity into an average price
The sandbox walks an aggressive order across resting levels to calculate a volume-weighted average fill. Real displayed depth can be cancelled or consumed before an order arrives.1
Protective venue price bands can also stop an order before the full quantity executes. Partial fill is therefore a distinct outcome from both success and rejection.2
