Method and limits

A notional match is only a first-pass hedge

Matching long spot notional with short perpetual notional reduces first-order directional exposure. Basis, funding, reference differences, fees, and quantity drift create residual risk.12

Recalculate after the spot value or hedge quantity changes. Also stress the collateral asset because a depeg can weaken the hedge account while the underlying exposure is under pressure.34
