Annualization is a comparison convention
Simple annualization multiplies one periodic rate by the assumed number of intervals in a year. It answers what the rate would imply if unchanged, not what a trader will earn or pay.23
Funding can reverse sign and positions can change size between intervals. Use multiple rate cases and show the actual cash flow alongside any annualized percentage.12
